Mystic Launch Access & Flight Restrictions: 2025-26 Harvest Operations
HVP, the operator of the pine plantations surrounding Mystic launch, will conduct harvesting operations within Mystic Park between October 2025 and May 2026.
This is a significant operation that occurs only once every 25 years. This work will impact both launch access and flying over Marcus Ridge at various times during this period.
Please read the details below carefully before planning a trip to fly in North-East Victoria during this time.
Key Stages & Access Changes
6 October - 22 November (completed)
23 November – 19 December 2025
- Mystic Launch open.
- Access only via Wandi / McClelland Road - See Mystic Accecss section below.
- No pedestrian or Hike & Fly access via Emily Spur.
- No flying over Marcus Ridge - see Flight Plans section below.
20 December 2025 – 26 January 2026
- Mystic Launch open.
- Normal access via Mystic Lane resumes.
- No harvesting during this period.
27 January – May 2026
- Mystic Launch open.
- Access only via Wandi / McClelland Road - See Mystic Accecss section below.
- No pedestrian or Hike & Fly access via Emily Spur.
- No flying over Marcus Ridge - see Flight Plans section below.
Mystic Access
- Access is via Grenvilles Rd only (entrance near Five Acres).
- Access is only available to NEVHGC members and is not open to the public until after Dec 19.
- The access road is 5km long, and is marked with directions at key intersections.
- White kilometre In and Out signs are also posted, and to be used for making radio calls.
- Make radio calls on channel 30 open, at the kilometre marks. i.e.:
“Paraglider 2 kilometres In” , or
“Paraglider 5 kilometres Out”, etc.
- The road has been recently upgraded to be 2WD accessible.
- Only Mystic inducted drivers should drive in the park.
- There is no Hike & Fly or pedestrian access to launch via Emily Spur until after Dec 19.
Flight Plans

Mystic Harvest still has active logging crews until 19 December, so we are asked to conform to the following Flight Plans:

Students and beginner pilots:
Fly straight out from launch until sufficient clearance from the terrain
Then bear right towards the Mystic Landing zone.

Intermediate pilots and above:
After launch bear right to Emily spur.
Thermal at Emily spur
Only cross to Marcus spur when 100m or higher, above launch height (900m AMSL).
- Note: Pilots MUST NOT bear left to Marcus spur directly after launching.
Tawonga Gap (TG) Flying Option
- TG launch remains open throughout the harvest period.
- PG2 and PG3 pilots may only fly under supervision by a FI, SSO, or locally endorsed PG5.
- PG3 pilots are encouraged to complete their PG4 ahead of the season.
